Hambo: Ewe Are Special

Love this sentiment. Enough to make the receiver special :) It's time for the Hambo Hoedown Challenge and the theme is to incorporate Weaving of some kind to your project.

I used some Basic Grey off beat pattern paper from  my stash.I cut some strips of various paper and did some weaving. I really like the effect and its a great way to use up all those scrap strips too, that's an added Bonus...don't you think :)

I used this cute sheep by Hambo Stamp. I just love their stamps and sentiments. I colored the image with my copics and applied some fluff for the wool texture. Looks amazing.

If you have never used these is the chance to win some. Trust me, you will love them.

Laugh Giggle and be Silly

Wondering why I have this title, well I was creating this mixed media piece and my daughters were also crafting along with me. So we all were giggling, laughing...hence the Title.

So, Many of you asked for a tutorial for my last mixed media art and here I created one just for you :) I created a spring theme canvas after seeing a few photos of poppies, which bloom in spring in California. We don't really have spring yet. I thought it was beginning to as I saw a few daffodils and Crocus in my garden but yesterday's snow rain n snow today reminded me that winter has not yet left us.
This is a picture heavy post...just to warn you guys.

Step 1: I applied some gesso to my canvas and created slight texture on the borders.
Step 2: Applied a few gelatos and other water color crayons.

Step 3: I then used some water with my paint brush to blend the markers.I also applied some color to the border.

Step 4: Then I masked the center part and stamped the newspaper background repeatedly, using Archival black ink by Ranger as it doesn't react with water..

Step 5: I now stamped the flourish background onto a piece of tissue paper using black Pitt Artist pen by Faber Castell and used my gel medium to stick it to the canvas, just to give some grass effect.

Step 6:  Added some more colors to the sky and grass to create depth and some Gesso to create the texture and washed look for the border.

Step 7: I now stamped the Hero Arts Poppy flowers onto the tissue paper using Ranger Archival ink and glued it down to the canvas.

Step 8: Now, I started to color the flowers using some faber castell and Staedtler Aqurelle pencil along with my water color cakes.

Step 9: Once the coloring is finished, I started creating a border around my center image using some Pitt artist pen and other colors.

Step 10: Love the look of it. Unfortunately, we have bad lighting due to snow, so I couldn't take very good photos.
Here I applied some gold mist around the center focal window.Stamped the grass.

Step 11:
Stamped my sentiment and birds using Pitt artist big brush markers and my Canvas is ready to be displayed on my wall.

closeup of the image, so its bit more clear.

Thank you for bearing with me through this long post. Hope it helps you create some nice Home Décor for your home. If you have any questions, please leave them onto the comment section.

Spring Flowers

I know its been some time since I shared something on my blog. Well we all had flu again and now I have so many posts to share.
Here the weather is really strange and every 3rd. house has someone down with flu. Hope it's all gonna change soon as I saw the first blooms in my garden today. Finally Spring is here :)

So, here I have a Spring card to share with you all. I used my new Hero Arts Stamps (Etched Daisy and the Thank you sentiment). It's a gift from my win. Thank you Hero Arts!!
I created this background using emboss resist technique and used my Faber Castell Aqurelle pencils to watercolor. I struggled a bit to create the layout of this card as I didn't want to lose the effect of the background using anything over it.  It looks so pretty with all the colors and effect. So the idea popped up and I took the risk to die cut the panel, inked and adhered the frame using 3D foam and used Vellum to write the sentiment on the center part.

Isn't it a lovely CAS card. Hmmm!!! techniques can be simple too. Since it's all about spring, I am submitting it for the following challenges.

Moxie Fab World: Watercolor Challenge
Simon says Challenge: Easter/ Spring
Moxie Fab World challenge: Emphasize the negative (I used Vellum and wrote sentiment on my negative, plus the added bling and translucent effect of the background emphasize it more)

See you tomorrow with some of my recent published creations. Happy Happy :)

Smooth Sailing

Hello Everyone!!!
I hope you all are enjoying your Sunday!!!! I finally got some cards done and am ready for the next week now.
I made this card for the current Hambo Hoedown challenge: the theme is Rainbow. If you never have tried these challenge, I would highly recommend that you try it once as I just love the fun images and sentiments by Hambo stamps and they really stamp so crisp. There is still time to play along.

Now just to share how versatile these stamps are, I created this mix media card using some newspaper, gesso, faber-castell aquarell pencils and gelatos.

Back to housework now :)

Best Wishes

Here is another card I made for the Penny Black challenge. The theme is Renewal (to take a winter theme card and make a Spring theme card).

I took a card, which I made in December.

And made it to this:

I colored the pots using watercolor pencils and applied some stickles to incorporate the shine from the Christmas card. Love the transformation :)

Playing along the challenge at Penny Black blog. The challenge is to create something that focuses fussy cutting and die cuts.

I fussy cut my flower in 2 layers and fussy cut the upper layer for added dimension. The tag is a die cut from PTI.

More details later....
